High school teacher Brian Jeffrey was a devout atheist. But that all changed when he finally saw the truth with his own eyes. This is his testimony of how God delivered him from atheism.
The root of the problem
Jeffrey teaches science in a high school in Atlanta, Georgia. Even as a teenager, he was already inquisitive of the existence of God. He started to doubt after two of his friends died in a car accident. He was 14 years old at that time and back then, he didn’t know how to process the death of his friends. He had questions like why it happened but he just couldn’t seem to get a solid answer.
Most of the answers he got were vague and general, and it just never gave him any comfort. That’s when he started to feel angry with people giving him “complicated verses” to “confuse” him. And at some point, he relished in arguing with others. He’d try to break down the God they believed in by throwing some valid scientific answers to questions. His behavior and thinking eventually led him to atheism.
For Jeffrey, it was a compilation of so many things that made him an atheist. There’s other people’s poor attitude, the world as a whole, the pain and suffering, and the hypocrisy among others. He looked at those negative things and it just made him think that there’s no such thing as a great God.
Discovering the truth
Jeffrey’s turning point was when his wife got pregnant. His wife would invite him to church and though he would make a big fuss about it, he still went. His initial reason was because he wanted to make a better life and environment for their daughter.
They would stay up at night talking about what kind of setting and culture they want to create for her. Jeffrey admitted that those conversations with his wife were hard because he knew that they had to give her something better than what they currently had. He also confessed that at that time, he wasn’t the best role model because of his anger issues.
So he began to open up his heart to God and since then, he has been a different person. He confessed all his faults and told his wife that it’s time for him to be baptized as he really desired to be the person that God wanted him to be.
Jeffrey was baptized on Father’s Day and is now delivered from atheism. He is also embracing his life as a new creation, no longer offending God and making sure that people understand that there is a God.
“Now I’m a believer and my life is completely different. And just because maybe one Christian ruined it for you, it doesn’t mean that they’re all like that. I wish I would have known that earlier.”
