Jermaine Greene’s life completely turned around after a severe vehicle accident. It left him paralyzed and depressed, but God gave him a miracle.
Life after the accident
In November 2004, a trash truck hit Jermaine’s car, putting him in a coma with severe head trauma. His parents, Bishop Joel Greene Sr. and Edna, rushed to the hospital distraught and petrified for their son’s life. They were unsure if Jermaine would come out of his coma, but they held onto their faith.
Together with the church, they prayed non-stop and believed that God would heal Jermaine, who ended up being paralyzed on one side of his body. Then one night, as they were praying over him, Edna saw Jermaine’s left hand going up. God had raised his hand and by the next morning, he was up and walking.
Jermaine went home to his wife and children thinking that his ordeal was over. Little did he know that it was only the beginning. Three weeks later, he blacked out and woke up with the left side of his body paralyzed again. He got very discouraged and questioned why God had healed him only to have him be sick again.
He was diagnosed with left hemiparesis, which is a weakness of one side of the body. He started to believe for a miracle again thinking that any day now, he will be up and walking and everything will be fine. But it was different this time. There was no improvement even after physical therapy, leaving him to face life confined to a wheelchair.
Fighting his battles
Shortly after, Jermaine and his wife divorced and he was left with his four children. His circumstances led him to depression, and so he thought of ending his life. He already had pills in his hands, but he was stopped by the laughter and smiles of his daughter who was crawling up to him at that very moment. God saved him through his daughter and since then, he trusted God with his life. He decided that whatever circumstances he found himself in, he would live his life for God.
“I had made up my mind, it didn’t matter. I’m gonna preach, I’m gonna prophesy, I’m gonna do whatever you tell me to do. If I’m in this wheelchair until I die, so be it,” Jermaine declared.
The miraculous healing
After two years, Jermaine was bringing their Easter Sunday service to a close when he said that God told him to tell the church to just start praising Him. So, the whole church did and suddenly, Jermaine just stood up from his wheelchair and walked down the aisle. To Edna, it looked like her son was gliding through.
Jermaine did not instantly realize what just transpired. He didn’t know he was out of the wheelchair until he saw it empty. That’s when he realized God had delivered him from his paralysis. God had given him a miraculous healing and his doctor confirmed it.
He is now known as the wheelchair preacher. Later on he got married again. Together with his wife, they minister hope through God’s healing power in their weekly radio show and in churches.
