Alexis Hoffman got involved with drugs, sex and alcohol at a young age. Her lifestyle eventually gave her a mental health illness that she couldn’t seem to get out of until she encountered God’s great deliverance.
How It All Started
Alexis’ dark life all began after getting out of a very abusive relationship. She was just a freshman in high school, and had survived physical, sexual, and mental abuse. However, it had an even worse effect on her life after.
Filled with anger, guilt and shame, she chose to turn away from her Christian upbringing and lived a life in the dark instead. The rest of her high school years were filled with drinking, drugs, sex and self-harm. Her parents, Ted and Robin, were heartbroken with their daughter’s situation.
The Tormenting Voices
In her senior year, Alexis started having nightmares followed by tormenting voices. They would tell her lies like how she is useless, ugly, worthless, and dirty. The voices would also tell her to just die. Unfortunately, Alexis would believe the lies in her head and would hide knives in her bedroom.
Her mother Robin found out about her daughter’s suicidal tendencies, so her parents decided to admit her to a psychiatric hospital. At this point, Robin was declaring healing and deliverance for Alexis.
It was years of going in and out of 20 different psych wards with multiple diagnoses including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. But even with all the medications, nothing would quiet the voices in her head. During this time, Alexis and her family were feeling hopeless and empty, not knowing what to do anymore.
Freedom from The Torments
Things began to change in the Hoffman household after Robin took Alexis to a healing conference where Pastor Todd White was ministering.
“I thought to myself, these meds aren’t working, these doctors can’t help me and I said a prayer to God. I said, ‘God if you’re real, then I need you to show up, and I need you to show up in a big way,” Alexis said. “And if you don’t, I’m going to kill myself tonight.”
God answered her through Pastor White who knew from the look in her eyes that she had devils inside of her. So as he prayed for her, he just looked at her and said, “come out” which made Alexis fall down to the floor screaming.
Screams of horror followed after that. There was also hissing and growling and Alexis described stuff coming out of her body, physically feeling things leave from her. From that day forward, she was free and delivered, and it was all because of the authority in the name of Jesus. She felt peace and God’s overwhelming love for her.
Alexis rededicated her life to God, and today she is healed from her mental illness. She also got married and works as a substitute teacher while embracing her new purpose in life; helping others to find freedom from mental illness.
