Wilbur Zuke had been healthy as a senior citizen until one day he wasn’t. Suffering from chronic pain, he turned to God for healing.
Seeking for relief
Wilbur was enjoying his life at 83 years old. But in 2015, things changed for him after he woke up with an intense pain in his back and hip. He tried taking pain medication hoping that it would just go away, but he was wrong. The pain persisted, and he was suddenly unable to move without the use of a cane to assist him.
He felt disappointed as it took away some of his independence, keeping him from doing some of the things that he used to do. “I’d have to readjust my life to live with it,” Wilbur said. “Satan’s a terrible guy. He tries to convince you that this is normal, but it’s not.”
He started to look for some treatments that could help him with his pain. He first went to a chiropractor, but the pain continued to nag him. So, he tried going to physical therapy next. There, he was diagnosed with segmental dysfunction and degeneration in his back and hip. Therapy somehow helped him get relief from his pain.
However, the therapist advised that weekly treatments were his only option for lasting relief. He was once again disappointed as it may mean that he would be doing it for the rest of his life.
Praying for healing
Feeling hopeless about his situation, Wilbur, who is a pastor’s son, suddenly remembered something that he learned from the 700 Club program. He recalled a guy explaining how God healed him after declaring and praying healing scriptures over his circumstance every morning. So, Wilbur decided to do the same thing, knowing in his heart that God can deliver him from his suffering.
Since then, he started meditating on healing scriptures and believed God for total healing. “By his stripes, I am healed, and I was believing. I said it’s time to believe it.” He also asked for forgiveness for not believing His word that He would touch his heart.
Then God answered him on the 30th day of prayer. Wilbur woke up, and stood up without any pain. He didn’t even need the cane anymore. He then started praising the Lord, raising his hands up in the air. He told everyone he could about what God just did for him. And when asked about his cane, he replied that he didn’t need it anymore because God healed him the night before.
Even until now, Wilbur is still pain-free and living actively inside his community. He did not stop reading the healing scriptures, and it has kept him healthy even at 85 years old.
