Jeffrey McCall thought that he was happy being a drag queen. He was so certain about his desire to transition into a woman until he felt a deep emptiness in his heart. That’s when his life began to change. This is his testimony of deliverance from homosexuality and life of sin.
The Early Days
When Jeffrey was 12 years old, he struggled with same-sex attraction. But he only acted on it when he was already 15. Since then, his whole identity was in being a homosexual. He also took pleasure in the party life of Nashville. He would go partying, drinking, shopping and jumping from one relationship to another. On top of that, he was also addicted to drugs, taking a ton of Xanax and smoking crystal meth.
That was his lifestyle for about 5 years until he moved to Georgia to attend college. He finished college after 4 years, but not only did he receive a diploma, he also got a new identity as Scarlet. He was surrounded by transgenders, transsexuals and drag queens at that time because he had a family member who did shows. So in the summer after graduation, he did his first drag show.
Living in his new identity
Ever since his first drag show, Jeffrey just started living as Scarlet—dressing in women’s clothes and even dating men in his newfound identity. Because of that, it caused him to believe all the more that he is in the wrong body and he would have to go through surgeries to fully transition into a woman.
He was also living a promiscuous life during those years as Scarlet. Sometimes he would be with more than one guy in a day. Then he started prostituting his body, which also kicked off his heavy drinking. One time, he got violently drunk and threatened to commit suicide. He was admitted to the psychiatric ward in the hospital for 2 days.
The secret
After his hospitalization, Jeffrey just felt that he hit rock bottom. He was in graduate school at that time and suddenly everything seemed so empty. He had a secret though while living as Scarlet. Apparently, he has been listening to Jensen Franklin, pastor of a church he got to visit twice while in college.
He would listen to the pastor’s preachings on YouTube and each time, the Holy Spirit would use it to convict him of sin. Around the last semester of graduate school, he sat in his room and started weeping. He then spoke to God: “I know people live for you. Not just going to church on Sunday, not just playing a religious game. Something happened and their life was transformed. Will I ever live for you?” God answered him, “Yes you will live for me.”
The redemption
A few months later, Jeffrey did the unthinkable. He threw away all of his wigs, makeup, clothes, shoes and everything he owned and used as Scarlet. It was a huge step to his journey of new life because he had really planned to undergo sex change surgery. But God changed his heart and so he began a relationship with Him.
God also told him to make a Facebook Live video to cut ties with everything from his past. He needed to publicly acknowledge Jesus Christ as his savior and cut ties with being a drunkard, homosexuality, and the life of Scarlet. Since that video, he lost friends and some family members. But his relationship with the Lord grew.
“The day that I made the Facebook Live video, that was the day I was filled with the Holy Spirit. The Bible became completely alive to me.”
Jeffrey lost a lot from cutting his old life but he gained peace and joy that he hasn’t had since he was a very young boy. Today, he is living out his purpose as a mouthpiece of God’s word, sharing the love of God every chance he gets.
