Gregory Dublas has always been healthy as far as he could remember, which is why when he received a cancer diagnosis at 68 years old, he was just devastated. The doctors told him and his wife Athena that they found a large tumor on his left kidney, and it was certain that it was cancerous.
Praying for a miracle
Gregory was advised by doctors to have surgery, and immediately started praying to God for healing. He was believing God for a miracle, one that would cause the tumor to completely disappear. But prior to his surgery, his spirits were dampened again when his CT scan showed more bad news.
His lungs were covered with nodules, which is an indication that the cancer had spread. At this point, Gregory felt very brokenhearted, but in his brokenness, he heard the voice of God.
“I heard the Lord in a crystal clear voice from the right side, and He told me ‘I know about it.’ Instantly peace came upon me and by the grace of God I forgot about this horrible feeling of being done, being devastated.”
A few weeks after Gregory’s scheduled surgery, he was referred to an oncologist named Dr. Ted Logan about his lungs. His assessment of Gregory’s condition wasn’t good, so he offered treatment options that included chemo. Sadly, these options would only give Gregory months or a few years to live.
Witnessing a miracle
On his drive back home, Gregory wept endlessly, feeling so hopeless about his situation. Then he heard God tell him to cast out the spirit of grief and hopelessness.
“I turned my head and I said ‘In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I’m casting you out of me.’ And instantly this peace came upon me.”
That experience with the Lord completely changed Gregory’s strategy against his terminal illness. He and his wife decided to forgo treatment despite the consequences. They instead turned to prayer and God’s word for healing. Gregory also spent his days claiming healing, deliverance, and peace every chance he got. They had prayer groups and lots of prayer warriors covering them as well.
Two months later they received the answers to their prayers. Gregory’s follow-up CT scan surprisingly showed a decrease in the size of the nodules. He yelled so loud in the doctor’s office, “Lord, thank you! I know you healed me!” And there has been no sign of cancer since that day.
Medically, the phenomenon is called spontaneous regression. But for Gregory and Athena, they believe it was the power of Jesus that brought the healing.
